Pre-K Adventure

This could be the most important Adventure

you and your family participate in all summer!

For the Pre-K Adventure help your littlest family members understand the importance of covering up, using mosquito spray, and keeping the yard free of standing water to avoid health risks– in this case West Nile virus.  Kids are never to young to begin associating their own actions with the consequences they bring. Help them realize that they can make choices that will help them and those around them be more safe.

Basic Adventure

This Adventure was designed specifically to help families BE SAFE!  As you may have heard from the news, from your city, and from this group, West Nile has been found in Uintah, Box Elder and Davis Counties in Utah.

Even if it has not been found in your county or city, it is an important reminder that people should wear long sleeves and pants and use mosquito spray if they will be outside past dusk. Additionally, to help cut down the mosquito population you should remove all standing water from around your home.

For this ‘Adventure’ we encourage all families to spend some time together making your home and your neighborhood safe. Take a walk around your yard to look for, and remove, any standing water. If you spend a lot of time outside take a few minutes to make sure you have mosquito repellant products nearby to pull out as evening sets in.  also make sure that you have mosquito repellant for your bodies, and be sure to USE IT!

Super Achiever Adventure

SUPERAchievers will want to go the extra mile and walk around the neighborhood to see if there are public areas where standing water is a problem.  Perhaps you could notify neighbors on your street with a hand-made flyer, or just a short conversation to make sure they know how to keep themselves safe and healthy.

If you have elderly neighbors you may want to offer to do a quick look around their home for them and help them be prepared with whatever they need.

Teen Adventure

You could be a HUGE help to your parents on this one. We encourage teens to take the lead on this important Adventure.  Help your family schedule a time to ‘safety proof’ your yard, and help your younger siblings understand how important it is to wear mosquito repellant, to avoid leaving standing water, and to cover up.

You can also join the SUPERAchievers in going the extra mile and walking around the neighborhood to see if there are public areas where standing water is a problem.  Take the initiative and notify neighbors on your street with a hand-made flyer, or just a short conversation to make sure they know how to keep themselves safe and healthy.

If you have elderly neighbors you may want to offer to do a quick look around their home for them and help them be prepared with whatever they need.

Dear Residents,

West Nile has been found in Box Elder and Davis Counties. While we have not found West Nile Virus in mosquitoes in Cache County yet, this serves as an excellent reminder that people should wear long sleeves and pants and use mosquito spray if they will be outside past dusk. Additionally to help cut down the mosquito population, please remove all standing water from around your homes.

Thank you for your cooperation!
